X Marks the Spot – Turning Around IT Transformation in the Eyes of the Business

Leaders often ask me why they are seeing lack-luster results regarding their current or recent IT transformation efforts. During my conversations with leaders struggling in this area, I have found their struggle is typically not with the transformation initiative itself rather, it is with IT not getting to the critical success factors the business believes are well…critical. Luckily, this is also one of the easiest things to correct when transformational initiatives fall flat. Partnering with business leaders to line up clear metrics that guide execution and gauge success will quickly turn lack-luster results around.

Keeping in mind, IT transformational initiatives generally involve many moving parts and can take several months to years, which makes measurement a significant challenge.

If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it. Keep it simple. Find your top three and intersect them to gauge success.
